Mazda CX-60 Overview
The Mazda CX-60 is the Hiroshima-based brand’s first jab at the premium crossover market. An all-new platform, engine, transmission, as well as premium materials, are used to make this crossover a notch above the former flagship CX-9, and notch above the CX-5 in terms of size. The CX-60 features an abundance of space, luxury, power, and design that can be used for the city and for road trips out of town. Of course, this being a Mazda, it is also very dynamic to drive as well.
- Launch
-
The Mazda CX-60 was launched in the Philippine market on June 9, 2023, and is made to compete against premium crossovers from other luxury brands. The brand has two variants for its initial launch that are equally equipped but with two different engines in tow, a 3.3-liter diesel engine, and a 3.3-liter gasoline engine that are both mild hybrids under the eSkyActiv platform. The initial launch price of the CX-60 was set at P2,790,000 for the gasoline-powered variant and P2,890,000 for the diesel variant.
- Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
-
The CX-60, developed to use Mazda's Large Product Group platform, adopts a front-engine, all-wheel drive layout. This design choice allowed engineers to optimize the powertrain, resulting in handling-centric features like an independent front Double Wishbone suspension. The platform on which the CX-60 is built has a unique advantage, as it allows Mazda to accommodate longitudinally mounted engines.
The 3.3-liter e-Skyactiv-G inline-six engine, developed with the "right-sizing" concept, generates 280 horsepower at 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and 450 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 3,500 rpm. These specifications enable the CX-60 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds, with a top speed of 219 km/h. Those craving diesel power also have the option to opt for a 3.3-liter e-Skyactiv-D inline-six engine which makes 250 hp and a whopping 550 Nm of torque. A newly developed Skyactiv eight-speed transmission for both engines is also made for the rear-biased I-ACTIV all-wheel drive system.
Both engines are also equipped with Mazda's 48-volt M Hybrid Boost mild hybrid system. This system provides electric assistance at low speeds or during low engine loads, resulting in improved fuel efficiency compared to the non-turbo engine of the CX-5.

250 horsepower at 3,750 rpm and 550 Nm of torque at 1,500 rpm to 2,400 rpmTransmission SKYACTIV-DRIVE Eight-Speed Automatic transmission - Technology Features
-
Headlining the CX-60 in terms of technology is its 48-Volt M Hybrid Boost which provides electric assistance at low speeds or during low engine loads. There is also a rear-biased I-ACTIVE all-wheel drive system which gives the safety and confidence of traction with the dynamic fun of the rear-wheel drive layout.
The driver can also change the CX-60’s driving behavior with its Mi-Drive (Mazda Intelligent Drive Select) with Normal Mode, Sport Mode, Off-Road Mode, and Towing Mode options. The driver also gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a heads-up display, as well as a 12.3-inch infotainment display with a 12-speaker Bose Audio system. There is also a wireless charger to complement the wireless Apple Carplay, Dual-zone Climate Control, Ventilated seats, and Electric Steering Wheel adjustment.
- Exterior
-
The exterior of the Mazda CX-60 showcases the familiar Kodo Soul of Motion design philosophy but with an added element that Mazda designers call Noble Toughness which infuses elegance, sensuality, and presence. The CX-60 features a long hood and a short-deck rear proportion that is inspired by the silhouette of a classic sports car profile. It has an upright grille, giving the illusion of height, and an L-shaped DRL with signature wings that enhances the front-end width.
The CX-60 also comes equipped with 20-inch diamond-cut aluminum alloy wheels for added road presence that compliments the overall exterior design philosophy.
- Interior
-
On the inside, the CX-60 is adorned with high-quality materials with a wide dashboard that features lines running to the door trimmings to give a wide, airy, and spacious look. The long-center console hints at the FR layout of the CX-60, and the Nappa-leather seats are very supportive with excellent visibility and feel that emphasizes “Jinba-Ittai,” which is Mazda’s pure driving philosophy. You also get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as well as a heads-up display to keep your eyes on the road.
In addition, the CX-60 also gets a panoramic moonroof as well as ambient lighting to further accentuate the lines of the cabin.
- Safety
-
This being a Mazda, there is a huge emphasis on safety features with, Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Forward Obstruction Warning, Smart Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive LED headlamps, Blind Spot Monitoring, Front and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Driver Monitoring System, as well as Driver Attention Alert. Should the worst-case scenario happens, there are seven airbags to protect the CX-60’s occupants.
Pros & Cons
- Handsome Exterior
- Powerful inline-six engine
- Stable and predictable chassis
- Engine is quite thirsty during city driving
- The transmission is jittery and hesitant at slow speeds

Awesome bang for buck car. Handsome exterior, premium interior and awesome tech. Dont get this if you’re concerned about fuel economy (it’s an inline 6 after all). But it’s super fun to drive - fast and reactive. Suspension is stiffer than other crossovers but not too bad in view opinion (coming from driving a sedan)

Mazda Makati was good and service staff experienced. Mazda C5 is a bit overwhelmed with cramped parking and staff not as welcoming vs Makati. Overall car was good except some minor issues on the wiper blades that needs adjustment and a sensor warning that pops up during one of my longer trips but not during city driving. Dealer (Makati) can’t find issue at the moment.
